About

Established in 1919, IIE is a global not-for-profit that designs and implements international education strategies and program services. We work with governments, policymakers, educators, and employers across the globe to prepare students and professionals for the global workforce. With support from donors, we also create initiatives that assist students, scholars, and artists whose lives and work are threatened; expand teaching and learning across cultures; and provide opportunities to underserved populations.

IIE Memberships are comprised of two different member programs: the IIENetwork and IIE Global E3 Consortium. We welcome you to consider either or both as they suit your organizational or individual interests.

The IIENetwork is IIE’s long-established global membership association of over 10,000 international education professionals from more than 1,500 organizations and institutions. Through the IIENetwork, we share our extensive knowledge and experience with others who are working to strategize and actualize international education efforts in their organization or community. Members of the IIENetwork have access to outstanding and informative resources, as well as receive discounts on select IIE events and services.

IIE welcomes new members to join in an organizational or individual capacity at any time.

Recognizing a growing demand for internationally experienced engineering graduates, a group of leading universities around the world established the IIE Global Engineering Education Exchange (Global E3) in 1995. IIE Global E3 is an exchange program for engineering students: students may participate in study abroad exchange while paying home tuition.

With member universities in over 20 countries, students at over 70 universities have the opportunity to study abroad. IIE Global E3 exchanges about 250-300 students a year.
